Aromaattinen viherpippuri on Suomessa vähemmän käytetty ja se saadaan siten, raaka vihreä hedelmä kuivataan, jolloin sen väri pysyy myös vihreänä ja antaa omanlaisensa maun. Se on siis samaa kuin valko- tai mustapippuri.
Viherpippuri sopii erinomaisesti liharuokien, kanan, äyriäisten, pataruokien, keittojen ja kastikkeiden valmistukseen.
